Brazil Aid Program, what is it?

Auxílio Brasil is an income transfer program dedicated to families in poverty and extreme poverty. In this way, he seeks to carry out the transfer of income. Provisional Measure 1.061/2021 created the program in 2021. It already serves more than 20 million Brazilian families and citizens who need it.

Will Bolsa Familia cease to exist?

Bolsa Familia has ceased to exist, since the 

 

end of 2021 with the creation of Auxílio Brasil. In this way, all people who participated in the previous income transfer program were automatically included in the Auxílio Brasil by the Federal Government. Some alterations occurred between the programs, such as the increase in the value of the installments, among other situations.

In addition, social assistance, education, health, and employment benefits were integrated into the Auxílio Brasil. Therefore, while the benefit aims to help families with an extra income, it also contributes with tools to achieve social and economic emancipation. Furthermore, Auxílio Brasil was also part of the Food Acquisition Program (PAA).

Who can receive the Brazil Aid?

The program aims to include among its participants families in poverty or extreme poverty, who have a monthly income of up to R$ 200 per person. Thus, in order to participate in Auxílio Brasil, families living in poverty must have among their members at least one pregnant woman, nursing mother, or children and young people between 0 and 21 years of age.

What are the benefits of the program?

The program works together with other areas that help in socioeconomic emancipation. In this way, it has a total of nine benefits, the main ones being:

  • Early childhood: for families with children up to 36 months, the government offers an additional R$ 130;
  • Family Composition: for families that have young people up to 21 years old, who are enrolled in school, the government offers R$ 65 for each member;
  • Overcoming Extreme Poverty: offered to families who, even with the benefits, still receive the monthly amount of R$ 100 per person adding up all their income. The government offers an additional amount per month that is variable.

In addition, there are other programs included in the benefit, such as the Scholar Sports Allowance, Citizen Child Aid, Urban Productive Inclusion, Rural Productive Inclusion, the Junior Scientific Initiation Scholarship, and the Transition Compensatory Benefit.

How many benefits can a family have access to?

The three main benefits mentioned above (Early Childhood, Family Composition and Overcoming Extreme Poverty) can be received cumulatively. However, in the first two, each family can receive a maximum of 5 members.

How much is the benefit share?

The value of the Auxílio Brasil installments started with at least R$ 400. However, it was defined that until December 2022, families will receive at least R$ 600. The amounts may be higher due to the other nine benefits included. For example, if a family has a child under the age of 3, they can receive an additional R$ 130 from Auxílio Brasil. But if she has two children under the age of 3, she will receive R$ 600 from the Aid plus R$ 260 from the early childhood benefit.

What are the payment dates for the Brazil Aid?
