Did you know that now you can practice how you will vote on election day? The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) launched the virtual voting machine simulator, created for the 2022 elections. With it, it will be as if you were standing in front of the polls on polling day. If you want to arrive on the day and vote without errors, you can practice how you will do it in a quick, practical, didactic and fun way using this tool.
Despite this, the simulator is not new, it has existed since the 2014 elections. And it has already been observed that the tool helps to make voting more efficient on the day. Because with the population trained on how to vote on the day, the time to vote decreases. This helps reduce queues at polling stations.
In addition, when training with the virtual simulator, the voter acquired greater understanding, such as, for example, in the voting order. When training in the virtual simulator, the voter will know that the first position to be asked to vote in the ballot box is federal deputy, and this has 4 digits. Afterwards, the ballot box asks the voter for the number of the candidate for state or district deputy.
The district deputy exists only in the Federal District. Both state and federal have 5 digits. Then, the voter must vote for senator, this has 3 digits. Afterwards, you must indicate which governor you want to vote for, for which two digits are requested. Finally, the voter must vote for the president of the republic, also with two digits.
Who are the candidates of virtual voting machine simulator?
The simulator offers voters the option to choose between fictitious candidates. The parties also follow the same pattern. Among the parties, voters will be able to opt for the Sports Party, the Popular Festivals Party, the Professions Party, the Musical Rhythms Party and the Folklore Party.
Voting always takes place in October, this year the first round will take place on October 2, the first Sunday of the month. The second round will take place on October 30th, the last Sunday of the month. Although the simulator has existed for 8 years, this year it brings new features to users in terms of accessibility.
Now there is the option of a sign language interpreter, and it has a waiting time of one second for the vote to be checked. In addition, there is additional confirmation for the subtitle vote. People with virtual disabilities also benefited from the news, as there was an update in the audios.
How to use the ballot box simulator?

- Access the TSE page that has the virtual simulator;
- then, choose one of the options that will appear according to your reality. Choose general elections in Brazil, or general elections in the Federal District, or general elections abroad. Also, choose between simulating the first or second round. If you prefer, you can also train for the 2024 municipal elections for the first and second rounds;
- when choosing your option, a notification will appear on the screen where you can select yes or no for the audio instructions during the vote;
- as will happen on the day, you will be voted for federal deputy. On the screen you will see 5 options of fictitious parties, choose the one you want and click to see the candidate options;
- you will have access to 4 candidate options, and under each of them you will see the number to be voted for. Choose the candidate you like the most and enter his number using the digits on the ballot box, then click confirm. In addition, you can vote in white, just select the “white” option;
- then you will be asked to vote for state deputy, perform the same process as before, select the party and see the candidates. After, choose which one you want and vote in the ballot box, and click on “confirm”;
- the same process will then be carried out for senators, governors and presidents of the republic;
- after completing all the voting, the ballot box will show a blank screen with the word “END”.
At any time during the voting, you can return to the homepage and carry out the process as you wish, either to repeat it or to change the type of election and the shift. To do so, just click on “new simulation” in the lower left corner of the page. When you finish voting, you will hear the famous “PILPILI” from virtual simulator of the electronic ballot box.
